from weeping to rejoicing

I love a good celebration. Celebrate good times, c’mon!!

It’s such an exciting opportunity to rejoice with someone and the amazing things happening in their life. Give me a reason to throw a party, and I’m going to have one. Someone’s birthday, let’s go. Christmas or New Year, people are showing up at the door. Spring is finally here? All right let’s have a bonfire.

But right now, the world feels a little less joyful. There is struggle, hurt, pain, and even death.

As the coronavirus infiltrates every aspect of people’s lives all over the world, a lot of things right now don’t feel good or right.

And if we’re being honest, a lot of us could say there is sorrow, mourning, and weeping. Tears over what was lost. Graduations, weddings, vacations, family members, and friends.

It can be easy to feel hopeless and in despair right now, because life has come to a halt, and we’ve realized the frailty of each day and the plans that are made.

I want to encourage you, friend, it’s okay to weep. It’s okay to mourn the loss of so many things and feel the pain and weight of this situation.

But there is a promise that provides hope and reminds us this weeping is only for a season.

Psalms 30:5b tells us “weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

BUT REJOICING!

There may be sorrow and sadness now, but there is a sweet promise.

Joy is coming!

Know what you sow now with tears, will be reaped with joy.

Friend, this season too shall pass, and there will once again be rejoicing.

And if you need another reminder of that, look outside at the trees and flowers blooming. The sun shining. The birds chirping.

God loves you, He is for you, and He wants you to experience joy in Him.
