in pursuit of your heart
Hey y’all! It’s officially the first day of spring!! It is my favorite season, and I couldn’t be more excited for warm weather, sunshine, and the flowers to start blooming. Ahhh, I can picture it already.
Well, spring break is over for me, and school is busier than ever. But I’m excited to share this reminder with y’all, and I hope it encourages you today!
As humans, we desire to feel loved, pursued, and fought for. Sometimes the question comes: “Do I matter?” “Am I worth fighting for?” I am here to tell you absolutely, 100% yes. And someone already has and continues to.
Relationships can be a tricky thing, but there is a longing in most women to see a man chase after her. And most men enjoy a fight, showing someone, they are worth it, knowing that the end result may be receiving the woman’s love as a result.
We see this idea played out in fairytales. The prince comes sweeping in to save the day and the prince and princess live happily ever after. Goodness, it was even on the latest episode of the Bachelor! Hopefully, this isn’t a spoiler for anyone, but Colton jumped a fence, bending the rules of the show to chase Cassie and win her back after she said goodbye.
We all yearn for this kind of love. A love that puts itself out there knowing there’s a risk of the love not being reciprocated. But something says, I want to show you you’re worth it, whether you accept the invitation or not.
And guess what? Here comes the crazy part I told you about earlier. We’ve all been pursued like this whether we realize it or not. We may not have experienced this kind of love on earth, but we have a heavenly Father who has searched for us, sent His son to die for us, and fights for us knowing full well we may reject his love. Let that sink in.
God searches for us while we’re lost, wandering, and alone.
He leaves the 99 to find the 1.
Luke 15: 4 – 7 says, “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
Luke 19:10 goes on to say, “For the Son of Man [Jesus] came to seek and to save the lost.”
God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for us.
He took our place on the cross. Yes, you heard that right. Our place. A death we fully deserve because of sin. He looked at us and said, no. I will cover your debt, because I love you. I will pay the price so that you may know my love and have the opportunity to say yes to loving me back.
Romans 5: 6 – 10 says, “You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!”
John 3:16 – 17 reaffirms again, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
God fights for us time and time again.
He reminds us of the truth and what He did for us on the cross.
Romans 8:34 says, “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
Hebrews 7:25 says, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”
These verses in Scripture paint the beautiful truth that God has, is, and always will be pursuing us, reminding us of His love for humanity. And all we have to do is accept His invitation. To say yes to His love and salvation.
My prayer is that you, sons and daughters, recognize your worth.
Even though we don’t know what happens after the “happily ever after” in fairytales, or if Colton and Cassie will stay together, we can rest assured we have a God who loves us and chooses us.
If any of y’all have more questions about who God is, I’d love to talk with you!
~Laura
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38 – 39
